Columbus, OH – This week, the Organizing For Ohio coordinated campaign launched its voter access volunteer team to protect Ohioans’ right to vote ahead of November’s election. The voter access volunteer coalition will oversee a number of efforts – ranging from a voter protection hotline that Ohioans can call with questions, to poll observing on Election Day – to protect Ohioans’ voting rights.

Yesterday, Organizing For Ohio hosted a virtual kickoff with voter access volunteers and Senator Sherrod Brown to highlight the importance of this work.

“With so much at stake in Ohio in 2024 – from re-electing Sherrod Brown and our U.S. House candidates to flipping the Ohio Supreme Court and picking up seats in Ohio’s legislature – we are working hard to make sure every Ohioan can have their voice heard in our election,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chair Elizabeth Walters.

“Our voter access team will serve as the last line of defense for Ohio voters by protecting the right to vote and helping ensure every Ohioan’s voice is heard. We’re grateful to our volunteer team for giving their time and energy on behalf of Ohio voters with such high stakes in 2024,” said Mariah Gould, Organizing For Ohio Coordinated Campaign Director.

Moreno’s Stance “Clearly Not What The Majority Of People In Ohio Believe In 2024”

Columbus, OH – Ohioans continue to hear that Bernie Moreno is “100% against abortion and said that he makes no exception for rape or incest or the life of a mom” and that he opposes guaranteeing a woman’s right to access contraception, including birth control pills, and opposes federal protections for IVF. Moreno already voted against protecting abortion rights and birth control and IVF access by voting against Issue 1 last year.

• Bernie Moreno, the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, cannot be trusted based on “lies” he’s told about his past, a pair of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown supporters said in Youngstown as part of the Ohio Democratic Party’s “Pants-on-Fire” tour.

• Dave Green, the United Auto Workers Region 2B director, and retired educator Linda Taylor spoke Friday at Wick Park against Moreno.

• “If you’re going to lie to people you better think twice,” Green said. “We’re not that ignorant. We can see it coming.”

• This was the second time in three months that those in organized labor have spoken against Moreno…

• Moreno attracted criticism for selling the Buick Envision, a vehicle made in China, despite saying a number of times he refused to do so.

• Moreno settled wage theft lawsuits after a Massachusetts judge ordered him to pay more than $400,000 to two former employees for failing to pay overtime in violation of that state’s labor laws. He also faced discrimination lawsuits in Cleveland that were settled out of court.

• Moreno’s been accused of lying about his background, his business origin story and for shutting down Cleveland State’s Confucius Institute while serving on its board of trustees, according to various media reports.

• “We deserve somebody who’s going to fight for working people and continue to fight for working people like Sen. Sherrod Brown,” said Green, a former UAW Local 1112 president who worked at Lordstown GM.

• “We need somebody in office that’s going to earn the support of working people, that has fought for working people for decades, not a car salesman who continues to lie about what he’s doing and how he’s doing it,” Green added.

• Taylor said, “Bernie Moreno tells lie after lie to Ohio voters to sell us a phony political persona that he thinks will win him votes. It’s clear to me that Bernie Moreno will say whatever he thinks he needs to say to win. He’s a liar and that is not the person Ohioans deserve to represent them.”

Columbus, OH –  The upcoming two-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade is a stark reminder that Bernie Moreno supports a national abortion ban and called the decision that stripped women of their freedom to make their own personal healthcare decisions a “monumental victory.”

“Bernie Moreno would overturn the will of Ohioans with a national abortion ban. Moreno is out-of-step with Ohioans, who believe that these decisions should stay between women and their doctors,” said ODP spokesperson Katie Smith.

🔍SPOTTED: BERNIE COZYING UP WITH FIRSTENERGY KEY PLAYER: Moreno was caught this week “welcoming” the support of  a “big player” in the FirstEnergy scandal behind closed doors. Reporting revealing Moreno has been campaigning with Tony George, who had a key role in the scandal that led to a $1.3 billion bailout “that fell on the backs of… everyday Ohioans,” further proof Moreno only looks out for himself. This is not Moreno’s first time cozying up to individuals involved in the largest corruption scandal in state history, with previous reporting finding he “accepted a large donation” from another individual involved in the scandal.

🤥BERNIE THE LIAR UNDER FIRE: After reporting from Ohio Capital Journal discovered that Moreno’s claim that he brought 5G to the City of Cleveland is just another lie that Moreno “still insists” on telling Ohioans, he continues to face scrutiny for his “erroneous” claims.
