VOTE ALERT: Jon Husted Opposes Bipartisan Push to Lower Grocery, Utility, and Health Care Bills for Ohio Families

Costs keep rising because of the Husted-backed war in Iran, but Husted says it’s ‘good news for the global economy’

COLUMBUS, OHIO — This week, Jon Husted voted against multiple bipartisan proposals that would have lowered the skyrocketing cost of groceries, health care, and utility bills for Ohio families. Husted also voted against a bipartisan proposal to protect families from rising prices driven by reckless tariffs and another endless war in the Middle East.

Ohio families are already getting crushed with skyrocketing gas, utility, grocery, and health care costs. Instead of doing anything to lower costs, Husted keeps insulting struggling Ohioans as “not very experienced at navigating the real world” and consistently dismisses the mounting affordability crisis by telling Ohioans to fix their “work ethic” and to simply “earn more” money to make ends meet.

Ohio Democratic Party Senior Communications Advisor Tony Wen released the following statement:

“Ohioans are sick and tired of Jon Husted voting to make their lives more expensive. Instead of fighting to lower costs for families at home, Husted keeps supporting to send more money overseas while lecturing Ohioans to work harder. Jon Husted couldn’t be more out of touch with what families in this state are going through, and they will send him packing in November.”

Keith Faber Refuses to Donate Wexner Money, Despite Promising to do so

COLUMBUS, OH – Keith Faber, current Ohio Auditor and Republican candidate for Attorney General broke his promise to Ohioans, refusing to part with thousands of dollars he received from Jeffrey Epstein co-conspirator and Columbus billionaire Les Wexner. This comes after Faber’s campaign pledged months ago to donate the money to various charities – a pledge Faber clearly hoped no one would realize that he broke.

“Keith Faber clearly can’t be trusted to be Ohio’s Attorney General – he’s already breaking promises to Ohioans and refusing to part with money from a co-conspirator of Jeffrey Epstein,” said Ohio Democratic Party Communications Director Marisa Nahem. “Ohioans know that if Faber can’t even keep his word to donate campaign contributions from a billionaire embroiled in the heinous actions of a sexual predator, he certainly isn’t up to the task of being the chief legal officer in the state responsible for protecting Ohioans and standing up to big corporations and special interests.”

Reminder: Faber is running to become Ohio’s Attorney General, the chief legal officer in the Buckeye State tasked with standing up to the powerful and well-connected to root out corruption in our state and put more of Ohioans’ hard-earned dollars back into their pockets.

Ohio Auditor Keith Faber’s campaign donated $12,500 to charity from political contributions it received from Columbus billionaire Les Wexner — $2,500 less than the $15,000 the campaign publicly pledged in late February, according to a pre-primary finance report filed with the Ohio Secretary of State.

The report, filed by Friends of Faber and covering activity through April 19, lists four charitable contributions made on March 18: $5,000 to the State FOP Charitable Fund, $2,500 to the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, $2,500 to Akron-based Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center, and $2,500 to Freedom a la Cart, a downtown Columbus nonprofit that trains survivors of human trafficking for workforce re-entry. The four gifts total $12,500.

In a Feb. 25 Dayton Daily News report, Faber campaign spokesperson Matt Dole said the attorney general hopeful had donated $15,000 “to law enforcement and victim rights charities” from Wexner’s contributions. Previously reported Wexner donations to Faber include $10,000 in 2025 and $5,000 in 2022. The pre-primary finance report does not itemize any separate charitable contribution that would close the $2,500 gap.

Vivek Ramaswamy is Still Focused on Shutting Down Ohio Colleges & Universities He Deems “Subpar”

Columbus, Ohio- Vivek Ramaswamy is doubling down once again on his proposal to shut down Ohio colleges and universities to fund his disastrous tax scam. His plan drew immediate backlash from communities across the state who don’t want to jeopardize their small businesses, jobs and access to education.

READ: Vivek Ramaswamy still focused on shutting down ‘subpar’ Ohio universities

  • Republican candidate for Ohio governor Vivek Ramaswamy is still pushing to shut down public colleges and universities if he believes they are ‘subpar,’ he said Tuesday evening.
  • “I don’t think you should be funding subpar universities,” Ramaswamy said to a student asking a question.
  • Cleveland State’s president, Dr. Laura Bloomberg, said consolidations can’t be the only option:
  • “We need to honor the identity of our public universities, which were formed for specific purposes to meet the needs of their region. All options need to be discussed – there are many ways to think about programs and strategic partnerships that are far short of consolidation and achieve the goals of being more nimble, efficient institutions of higher education.
  • Cleveland State is proud to call itself Cleveland’s university. We are a public research university located in the heart of the city. For more than 60 years, we have been essential to the region and the state. Our longstanding and growing relationships with the community and employers directly benefit our students. More than 85% of CSU graduates live and work in Northeast Ohio, contributing directly to our region’s economy.”

FACT CHECK: Vivek Ramaswamy Continues His Pattern of Lying to Ohio Students

Columbus, Ohio- During a speech at Ohio State University just weeks after his plan to close colleges and universities across the state drew backlash, billionaire scam artist Vivek Ramaswamy continued his pattern of lying to Ohioans. Here’s a fact check on Ramaswamy’s latest list of lies:

  1. Ramaswamy said instead of investing in Ohio, business owners “move to Tennessee, to Texas, to Florida,” but he neglected to mention that he moved his own business to Texas just months before announcing his run for governor. He also didn’t mention that his own party has been in charge for years as jobs and businesses have left Ohio for other states.
  1. At an event aimed towards students, Ramaswamy also dodged responsibility for his own plan to raise the voting age to 25. He pivoted to his plan for all high school students to pass a civics test, but his actual plan called for changing the voting age to 25 unless all Americans under that age passed a test or served in the military.
  1. Finally, Ramaswamy ran away from his plan to close colleges and universities to fund his disastrous tax scam. He claimed media coverage was inaccurate and when pushed about solutions said it was time to be moving on to the next question.

“Vivek Ramaswamy can’t stop lying about his plans to close colleges, raise the voting age to 25, or even about how he called Medicaid and Medicare a mistake,” said Ohio Democratic Party spokeswoman Katie Seewer. “Ohioans of all ages are struggling to get ahead but instead of tackling the high cost of living, Vivek Ramaswamy would rather call them lazy and tell them lies.”

Ohioans in Dayton Call Out Jon Husted’s Out of Touch Attacks on Hardworking Families

Husted: “People living in poverty are just not very, they’re not very experienced at navigating the real world”

DAYTON, OHIO — Today, Ohioans in Dayton gathered for the fourth stop of Husted’s Real World Tour, calling out Jon Husted for his out of touch attacks on hardworking families.

Ohioans are already struggling with high grocery and utility prices due to Jon Husted’s corruption, and the skyrocketing cost of gas is forcing families to cut back even more. Instead of working to lower costs, Jon Husted has insulted struggling Ohioans as “not very experienced at navigating the real world” and dismissed the mounting affordability crisis by telling Ohioans to fix their “work ethic” and to simply “earn more” money to make ends meet.

“Today, we are here celebrating Earth Day, and we hope to bring many politicians in Washington like Senator Jon Husted back to Earth, and back to reality. The reality is many people are struggling paycheck to paycheck. The reality is the gas prices are higher,” said State Representative Desiree Tims (Dayton — District 38). “We need to bring down the cost of your electricity bill — we can’t have politicians cutting backroom deals with utility companies to the tune of billions of dollars that we are subsidizing. We can have an Ohio that we can all afford, but it requires our politicians coming to the table and living in reality.”

“Jon Husted has said that poor people don’t know how to navigate the real world. And I guess if you think about the world that Jon Husted lives in, he is probably right. In Jon Husted’s world there are the people like him at the top, the people with so much power and privilege that they feel like the rules do not apply to them,” said Rose Lounsbury, candidate for State Representative (Dayton — District 36). “They can engage in the largest bribery scandal in the history of our state with zero consequences. They have no responsibility for their actions and they feel no accountability, and they feel justified taking advantage of the rest of us.”

“Jon Husted says that you don’t know how the world works and that affordability is just a buzzword. Jon Husted says that I just need to work harder to overcome the cost of inflation,” said Chris Gibbs, a soybean farmer in Shelby County. “I know how the world works. And all I see is Jon Husted on the sidelines, supporting the very policies that make it harder for me and my fellow farmers to survive.”

“I realize that Jon Husted is not very experienced at navigating the real world. His policies reflect an inability to recognize the needs and struggles of his own constituency. When I listen to Senator Husted, I hear a man who doesn’t know how to navigate real world issues faced by Ohioans on a daily basis,” said Rev. Aileen Maddox of the St. Paul AME Zion Church in Dayton. “His response to those struggling has been to earn more money, as if he is not aware of the fact that many Ohioans are working for low wages and the fact that they are low wage earners mean that they are taxed more due to the policies voted on by Senator Husted.”
