Four Years After Dobbs Decision, Vivek Ramaswamy Wants to Overrule Ohio Voters in Favor of Dangerous Abortion Restrictions

Columbus, Ohio- Four years after the Supreme Court’s decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and rolled back one of American women’s most fundamental rights, Vivek Ramaswamy is pushing an extreme anti-abortion agenda that overrules the will of Ohio voters. Ramaswamy said Dobbs was decided correctly; he was “unapologetically pro-life” without any qualification, and described a law banning abortion before most women even know they’re pregnant as “progress.”

Ohioans overwhelmingly enshrined the right to reproductive freedom in Ohio’s state constitution in 2023. Instead of taking his cues from Ohio families, Vivek Ramaswamy selected a running mate who co-sponsored a heartbeat ban with no exceptions for rape or incest and is responsible for enacting the same extreme abortion restrictions that voters rejected.

“Ohioans overwhelmingly rejected Vivek Ramaswamy’s extreme, anti-abortion agenda, but that hasn’t stopped him from pushing these dangerous policies,” said Ohio Democratic Party spokeswoman Katie Seewer. “Once again, Ramaswamy thinks he knows better than Ohioans and would do what he wants while attacking our rights.”

NEW: Vivek Ramaswamy’s Latest Scammy Proposal Would Net Millions for Himself

Columbus, Ohio- New reporting from TiffinOhio.net revealed that Vivek Ramaswamy’s scammy plan to eliminate the capital gains tax in Ohio would save him millions of dollars. While working families struggle, Ramaswamy’s scam policies would only make him richer.

READ: Ramaswamy wants to end Ohio’s capital gains tax, benefiting wealthy residents—and himself

  • Vivek Ramaswamy has made eliminating Ohio’s tax on capital gains a centerpiece of his campaign for governor. Tax returns the Republican released during his 2023 presidential run show he personally reported roughly $211 million in such gains across two years – the precise category of income his proposal would exempt from state tax.
  • The returns, which Ramaswamy made public when he ran for the GOP presidential nomination, report $37 million in capital gains in 2015 and $174.5 million in 2020. Together, the two years total about $211.6 million.
  • The Legislative Service Commission, the legislature’s nonpartisan research arm, estimated in its fiscal analysis of House Bill 617 that repeal would cost the state between $615 million and $645.6 million in tax year 2027, growing to between $647.8 million and $679.8 million the following year. Capital gains revenue feeds Ohio’s General Revenue Fund, which supports public schools, Medicaid and other core services.
  • A separate LSC memo obtained by the Statehouse News Bureau found the benefit would be concentrated at the top: 81.6% of it would go to Ohioans earning more than $200,000 a year, while those making under $100,000 – the large majority of the state – would receive 7.3%.
  • Against that distribution, Ramaswamy’s own filings place him among the Ohioans who would gain the most. Applying the current 2.75% rate to the capital gains reported on his two released returns yields roughly $5.8 million – about $1 million on the 2015 gains and $4.8 million on the 2020 gains. The figure is illustrative: Ohio’s rates were higher in 2015 and 2020, so the actual state tax he paid on those gains at the time was larger. It is offered as a measure of the scale of capital gains income the repeal would shield from state tax going forward.
  • That income stream has continued. Ramaswamy’s financial disclosure filed April 6 with the Ohio Ethics Commission reported more than $1.1 million in dividends and capital gains in 2025, including $768,968 from a single sale of BlackBerry stock – again, the category of income his proposal would exempt.

Ten Terrible Things Vivek Ramaswamy Will Do For Ohio

Columbus, Ohio- Vivek Ramaswamy just rolled out ten things he says he would do for Ohio if elected governor, including scammy policy plans and plenty of lies. Check out what he’d really do (and what he has done) and learn more at ramaswamyscamoflife.com.

  1. Move his businesses from Ohio to Texas.
  1. Skyrocket the sales tax and stick working families with the bill.
  1. Bankrupt our public schools with his “absolutely devastating” property tax scam.
  1. Slash Medicaid and Medicare, which he called “mistakes.”
  1. Defund police and fire departments across Ohio and make our state less safe.
  1. Ship American jobs overseas while working families struggle.
  1. Ignore the rising cost of living that he thinks is only in Ohioans’ imaginations.
  1. Fail to stop the culture of corruption in Ohio’s Republican-led state government and make it worse.
  1. Fly to far-off destinations to play pickleball with the Paul brothers while ignoring Ohioans on the ground.
  1. Lie and scam his way to more profit for himself while ignoring and blaming Ohio’s working families who are struggling to make ends meet.

WATCH: Ohioans in Zanesville Slam Vivek Ramaswamy’s Scammy Policy Plans

Columbus, Ohio- Earlier this week in Zanesville, candidate for lieutenant governor David Pepper joined members of the United Steelworkers to slam Vivek Ramaswamy’s scammy policy plans that would ship Ohio jobs overseas and leave working families behind.

WATCH THE CLIP HERE:

“He is literally flying around the state and country in this fancy corporate jet and I think what happens when you do that is people feel like you’re not really on the ground. You don’t understand their issues. You know, he proposes consolidating colleges and universities. If you are on the ground, in communities, you realize what a terrible idea that is. You realize that not only would it cost students and families but it also really would hurt the economy of these communities,” said candidate for lieutenant governor David Pepper.

This Week in #OHGov: Bodyguard Blues & More Clues About Why Ohioans Can’t Trust Ramaswamy

Columbus, Ohio- It was another week to forget for Vivek Ramaswamy. He’s showing Ohioans why they can’t believe a single word he says, from lying about his record on COVID-19 while making more money for himself, to failing to keep Ohio families and their children safe, to ignoring the opioid crisis, and failing to protect their healthcare.

More money, more problems: Reporting from Politico revealed Vivek Ramaswamy’s company Roivant spent $70,000 lobbying the federal government for the development and approval of COVID-19 drugs. Ramaswamy wanted to “segregate” Americans based on immunity status and made more than two billion dollars off of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ohioans can’t believe a word Ramaswamy says after he scrubbed his record on the pandemic and lied to Ohioans all while lining his own pockets.

Bodyguard blues: New reporting from TiffinOhio.net revealed that Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign continued paying his security firm even after his personal bodyguard was arrested with enough fentanyl to kill 132,000 Ohioans. Ramaswamy giving a pass to criminal drug traffickers isn’t just dangerous; it’s disqualifying.

Start spreading the news: Longtime New Yorker Vivek Ramaswamy had a great time watching the Knicks game from his private jet. Donation records listed Ramaswamy as a New York resident as recently as 2019, and his company’s executives are still based there. He allegedly attempted to celebrate with the Knicks in their locker room following their win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, but was denied in humiliating fashion.

Ramaswamy’s running mate “gave in” on child marriage: Legislation banning child marriage failed to advance in the Ohio Senate thanks to the opposition of Ramaswamy running mate Senate President Rob McColley. After McColley said legislation to end child marriage in Ohio needed “further exploration,” he “gave in” to arguments against the bill made by members of his caucus. Ohio families can’t trust Ramaswamy and McColley to keep their kids safe.

With Friends Like These: Vivek Ramaswamy and his best friend Dr. Oz are both known for their focus on making healthcare more expensive and less accessible for working families. After Ramaswamy called Medicaid and Medicare “mistakes,” Oz called Medicaid expansion, which has allowed millions more hardworking Ohioans to afford health insurance, a “program with great danger.” Does Ramaswamy agree?
