Where Was Bernie Moreno This Week? Wining-and-Dining Donors, Insiders at Luxury Getaways

Columbus, OH – Bernie Moreno was busy this week wining-and-dining donors and political insiders at out-of-state, luxury getaways – including at a private jet center in Naples, Florida. Take a look at Moreno’s swanky getaways along with their scenery – and sushi – below:

#OHSEN Slugfest: New Friends, More Infighting, and the Field Gets Called Out For Attacking Ohioans’ Healthcare

Columbus, OH – This week, the #OHSEN slugfest saw a blossoming friendship between Bernie Moreno and George Santos and a scathing column about the “many ethical lines” Frank LaRose has crossed as he puts his political ambitions ahead of Ohioans. One thing we didn’t see? LaRose’s personal financial disclosure – which is now 24 days late while LaRose acts like the rules don’t apply to him.

Here’s what you missed in what has already been called one of the “messiest, “most expensive” and “bruising” primary battles in the country.

BEST BUD ALERT: BERNIE MORENO AND GEORGE SANTOS

George Santos: “Hey! I just wanted to stop by and say thank you to Bernie Moreno from Ohio for when I ran for U.S. Congress in 2022 for maxing out to my campaign. Unfortunately, you know, it ended, it’s over, but I want to say thank you very much for that donation and for all the support. And I hope in the future I can come back and be part of the game again. Bye!”

LaRose also caught wind of the friendship between Santos and “the second coming of George Santos” – aka Bernie Moreno.

Let’s not forget the donation that started it all… 💸

OHIOANS CALL OUT #OHSEN FIELD FOR TRYING TO RIP AWAY THEIR HEALTHCARE

This week, Ohio doctor Dr. Beth Liston and healthcare advocate Crystal Lett spoke out against Moreno, LaRose, and Dolan’s support for eliminating the ACA.

Read more from Heartland Signal and WFMJ about the devastating impact repealing the ACA would have on Ohioans if Moreno, LaRose, or Dolan got their way.

“There are at least 2 million Ohioans with pre-existing conditions – like [my son] Noble – who could lose the protections the ACA puts in place for them. That’s why, to me, it is so important Ohioans know where Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan stand on this very critical issue,” said healthcare advocate Crystal Lett. “I cannot and will not sit by while Trump, Moreno, LaRose, and Dolan actively try to take healthcare away from the children and families who need it the most.”

FRANK LAROSE *STILL* DOESN’T THINK THE RULES APPLY TO HIM

🚨 COUNTDOWN: IT’S BEEN 24 DAYS SINCE LAROSE MISSED THE DEADLINE TO FILE HIS PERSONAL FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE 🚨

LaRose is making it crystal clear he doesn’t think the rules apply to him. After receiving an extension in August, LaRose missed the deadline to file his personal financial disclosure over three weeks ago…

“The clock is ticking…”

But, LaRose did find the time to pour gasoline on the infighting:

LAROSE CALLED OUT FOR “COLLUDING” WITH OUT-OF-STATE SPECIAL INTERESTS, “CORRUPTLY MANIPULAT[ING]” STATE ISSUE 1 LANGUAGE…

Key quotes from Marilou Johanek’s column:

“Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose… the overtly partisan elections chief removed all doubt with voters this year about his willingness to play dirty in tipping the scales on free and fair elections.”

“What LaRose revealed in colluding with anti-Issue 1 lobbyists to massage the text of a ballot initiative to benefit their campaign was public corruption beyond the pale.”

“LaRose took a side in an election he was overseeing and corruptly manipulated the ballot language on behalf that side to win.”

“LaRose doesn’t seem to care how many ethical lines he crosses to snare a U.S. Senate seat.”

Frankly, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

ANOTHER BAD DAY FOR THE #OHSEN FIELD… BUT A GOOD DAY FOR OHIOANS’ REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

State Issue 1 went into effect yesterday after Ohioans voted overwhelmingly to protect reproductive rights and overturn the existing abortion ban in Ohio.

But yesterday was also a loss for Moreno, LaRose, and Matt Dolan who all opposed the amendment and have said they would override Ohioans by voting for a national abortion ban.

SLUGFEST COUNTDOWN

102 days left until this Slugfest comes to a head and the infighting just keeps getting worse.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Beth Liston, Doctor and State Representative: “Make no mistake: Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose and Matt Dolan would vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act. They would not hesitate to kick the nearly 2 million Ohioans with a preexisting condition off their coverage, raise prices for Ohioans and make it much harder for people to get the care they need.”

REMINDER: As State Issue 1 Takes Effect, Entire #OHSEN Field Would Overrule Ohioans By Supporting National Abortion Ban

Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan Opposed Issue 1, Would Vote For A National Abortion Ban

Columbus, OH – Today, Issue 1 – the amendment Ohioans voted overwhelmingly for to protect reproductive rights and overturn Ohio’s dangerous abortion ban – goes into effect. Despite Ohioans making their position clear, Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan would all override Ohioans by voting for a national abortion ban in the Senate.

The entire #OHSEN field would overrule Ohioans by voting for a national abortion ban in the Senate:

  • At his campaign launch, Bernie Moreno said he is “unapologetically pro-life.” Moreno supports a national abortion ban and does not support exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother.
  • Frank LaRose supports a national abortion ban, opposes exceptions for rape or incest, and admitted he colluded with out-of-state special interests to try to ban abortion by rewriting the November ballot language to be intentionally misleading.
  • Matt Dolan celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, calling it “exciting.” Dolan said defeating the November amendment was a “priority” and said he would support a national abortion ban.

Ohio Doctor and Health Advocate Call Out #OHSEN Field for Attacking Ohioans’ Healthcare, Supporting Elimination of the ACA

Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan Support Ripping Healthcare Away from Millions of Ohioans

Columbus, OH –  Today, Ohio doctor Dr. Beth Liston and healthcare advocate Crystal Lett discussed the importance of the Affordable Care Act and electing a U.S. Senator in 2024 who will protect quality and affordable healthcare for Ohioans. Speakers also discussed Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan’s dangerous, anti-healthcare positions and support for eliminating the ACA – which would put 857,000 Ohioans at risk of losing their coverage and jeopardize care for nearly 2 million Ohioans with a preexisting condition.

“Make no mistake, Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan would vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act. They would not hesitate to kick the nearly 2 million Ohioans with preexisting conditions off their coverage, raise prices for Ohioans, and make it much harder for Ohioans to get the care they need,” said doctor and State Representative Beth Liston.

What you need to know about Bernie Moreno, Frank LaRose, and Matt Dolan’s attacks on Ohioans’ healthcare:

  • Bernie Moreno: “[The Affordable Care Act] actually made health care much more expensive. So we have to let the markets work… So that’s, that’s answer number one on healthcare.”
  • Frank LaRose: “Obamacare continues to be a disaster and I will work with [Trump] when I’m in the U.S. Senate to fix the many mistakes of the Obama and Biden administrations.”
    • Frank LaRose in 2012: “I’m committed now more than ever to work to repeal this bad law and replace it with real healthcare reform…”
  • Matt Dolan: “[The Affordable Care Act] was conceived wrongly, implemented poorly and has become a tool of partisan grift.”

Howard Wilkinson Highlights Latest Infighting in Ohio Senate Slugfest While Bernie Moreno and Frank LaRose Dodge Questions

WVXU: “More weirdness in Ohio’s GOP Senate race”

Columbus, OH – In a new column for WVXU, Howard Wilkson today highlighted the latest infightinging in Ohio’s “increasingly nasty” Senate slugfest while Bernie Moreno and Frank LaRose dodge questions about their *questionable* donations (or in LaRose’s case, a “myster[ious]” $250,000 self loan.)

Read more:

WVXU: Analysis: George Santos, a filing deadline spat and more weirdness in Ohio’s GOP Senate race

Howard Wilkinson

December 6, 2023

  • [George] Santos has made a video thanking Senate candidate Bernie Moreno, the Cleveland-area luxury car dealer, for maxing out on campaign contributions to the serial fabulist’s 2022 congressional campaign.
  • In the meantime, another Senate candidate, Frank LaRose, seems to be playing a game of hide-the-pea to avoid explaining just where a self-described “thousandaire” got the wherewithal to loan his campaign $250,000.
  • [His primary opponents] are pushing LaRose hard to file the Senate personal finances statement required of all candidates — a statement that is nowhere to be seen more than 100 days after the original deadline.
  • The clock is ticking on the LaRose campaign to file the personal financial statement, which may or may not shed light on how an elected official like LaRose, who makes $124,176 per year, can afford to lend his senate campaign a quarter of a million dollars.
  • “Every day that passes, LaRose makes it clearer that he doesn’t believe the rules apply to him,” an Ohio Democratic Party release said Tuesday.
  • [Moreno’s donation to Santos is] something the Moreno campaign apparently doesn’t want to talk about. A request for comment from the Moreno campaign has gone unanswered.
