Columbus, Ohio – In case you missed it, Republican House Speaker Matt Huffman once again led the charge in his party’s quest to lie to Ohioans as much as possible. Huffman would rather pretend he cares about what Ohioans think than admit his party is running out the clock to force extreme, unconstitutional maps on Ohio voters.

Ohioans from all walks of life traveled to Columbus to make their voices heard, but the Republican majority held sham hearings that were clearly only to fulfill a legal requirement. House and Senate Democrats stepped up to introduce a fair, constitutional map, but Republicans refused to seriously consider it while stalling on their own maps. 

“If Huffman thinks Ohioans will believe his lies while his extreme, gerrymandered maps are lying in wait, we have a bridge over the Ohio River to sell him,” said Ohio Democratic Party spokeswoman Katie Seewer. “Ultimately, Republicans are hell bent running out the clock so they can choose their own voters instead of letting voters choose their politicians.”

Husted raked in $70,000 from DC lobbyists as 500,000 Ohioans face spiking health care costs

Columbus, Ohio –  After voting to shut down the government rather than protect affordable health care for 500,000 Ohioans, Jon Husted raked in over $70,000 at a fundraiser with “longtime GOP advisers,” DC lobbyists and wealthy donors, according to reports.

Here’s a reminder of Husted’s continued attacks on Ohioan’s health care:

• First, Husted voted for devastating Medicaid cuts to fund the largest billionaire tax break in history. 

• Then, he lied about it. Last week, Husted was caught saying no one will lose Medicaid coverage in Ohio – despite expert analysis that will cause 490,000 Ohioans to lose health care coverage and put eleven rural hospitals in Ohio at risk of closure. 

• Now, he’s shut down the government rather than working to permanently extend tax credits that millions of Americans rely on to afford their health insurance — which will cause premiums to increase by up to 93% and make health care more expensive for 500,000 Ohioans.

Columbus, Ohio – Republicans have officially blown past their first deadline in Ohio’s redistricting process. Instead of following the process Ohio voters overwhelmingly approved to create a fair, constitutional map, Republicans are determined to run out the clock to once again cheat Ohio voters.

“After the first round of sham redistricting hearings conducted by Republicans who made it clear their presence was only because it was legally required, there’s no surprise this first deadline passed without even a proposed map from the majority party,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Clyde. “Ohioans deserve transparency and a commitment to draw a fair, constitutional map. Democrats have already stepped up and introduced a map that actually reflects how our state votes. We’re calling on Republicans to work with us to get this done for Ohioans.”

The Joint Committee on Congressional Redistricting was supposed to pass a bipartisan map by September 30th, 2025, and has officially failed to meet that deadline. Now, the process moves to the Ohio Redistricting Commission, which has until October 30th to pass bipartisan maps.

Husted lied about the health care cuts he voted for—now he’s refusing to fix the crisis he created

Columbus, Ohio — Despite the midnight deadline to reach a funding deal, Senator Jon Husted is choosing to shut down the government rather than prevent health care from getting more expensive for 500,000 Ohioans.

In response, Ohio Democratic Party Chair Kathleen Clyde released the following statement:

“Senator Husted would rather shut down the government than lift a finger to prevent health care costs from spiking for half a million Ohioans. This comes after Husted blatantly lied about the impacts of the Medicaid cuts he supported so he could deliver tax cuts to billionaires. Ohioans will remember who created this healthcare crisis when they cast their ballots in 2026.”

Columbus, Ohio – Vivek Ramaswamy is continuing his routine of dodging reporters after facing pressure to explain his stance on releasing the Epstein files. Last week, he promised to speak with reporters after an event, only to sneak out to avoid facing difficult questions.

Ramaswamy called himself the “first and most vocal proponent of releasing the Epstein list” and said he would release the client list “without exception.” He released a vague statement between Fox News appearances and Times Square billboard planning meetings while still refusing to address the question that is on voters’ minds.
