John Kulewicz Shines on Debate Stage, Highlights Results-Driven Experience as Ohio’s Next Attorney General
October 20, 2026
YOUNGSTOWN – John Kulewicz won the Ohio Attorney General debate yesterday at Youngstown State University, showing Ohio voters how his results-driven experience spanning 44 years as an attorney and includes winning a case to lower prescription drug costs at the United States Supreme Court will support his mission to root out corruption and lower costs for Ohio families as Ohio’s next Attorney General.
John proved to Ohioans that as their next Attorney General, he will fight for them in Columbus, not corporate special interests. He renewed his pledge to continue the FirstEnergy trial that has sent Ohio families’ utility costs soaring, while Republican opponent Keith Faber has previously refused to commit to continuing the trial. He also articulated his plans to root out Medicaid fraud and defend Ohioans’ access to healthcare, while Keith Faber has made comments appearing to be in favor of ending parts of Medicaid.
Here are some highlights from John’s debate performance:
On continuing the FirstEnergy trial [17:07]:
“We the people have a right after seven years and $1.3 billion into this to have that case go the distance. We had all the evidence we needed. We had one trial already resulting in a hung jury and a mistrial. We’ve had two successive attorney generals, two grand juries of our peers who issued indictments like that. We have all the evidence we need. It sabotages the trial team, in my view, to tell them ‘I may or may not go forward with that.’”
On tackling corruption in the state government [30:07]:
“We need to use every effort we can to wipe out corruption in government. We have the right to an honest government, a government we can trust. That starts with an Attorney General who’s going to be straightforward with the people. My door as Attorney General will be open to any evidence of corruption in the state government.”
On bringing the experience Ohioans need in their next Attorney General [42:16]:
“I have represented Ohioans in some of the toughest and most difficult moments of their lives…I’ve had cases all the way starting from the Franklin County Small Claims Court all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States. And what I’ve learned in each of those cases is how important it is to be perfectly candid with the courts about the facts and about the law that applies.”
John Kulewicz is running for Ohio Attorney General to take on corruption in Columbus, bring down costs for Ohio working families, and hold corporate special interests accountable. For more information about John’s campaign, visit https://john4ohioag.com/.
