COLUMBUS — Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper released the following statement Wednesday afternoon after Donald Trump doubled down with more attacks on Ohio workers and late U.S. Sen. John McCain during an appearance at a factory in Lima, Ohio:
“Ohioans honor workers and we honor veterans. Today in Lima, Donald Trump dishonored both.
“To attack John McCain because President Trump didn’t feel sufficiently thanked for his funeral is both dark and disturbing. John McCain earned every honor he received, including a war hero’s sendoff.
“The decision to shutter the GM Lordstown plant belongs to General Motors and General Motors alone. Blaming the workers and their elected representatives is just wrong, and does GM’s dirty work by shifting the blame to the union, who have been fighting day and night to save Lordstown.”
In slamming union leaders, Donald Trump returns to topic of Lordstown GM plant:
“They could’ve kept it. Lower your dues.”
Lower union dues would've kept the plant open??? This is why Trump keeps fact-checkers in business.
