SHOT/CHASER: Join Our Ohio GOP Debate Watch Party

Oops, there isn’t going to be a Republican debate watch party. Sad!

SHOT: DeWine/Husted spokesperson in January: “We have always said that we are willing to enter debate negotiations after the filing deadline when the primary race is more settled.” (Dayton Daily News, Jan. 30, 2018)

SECOND SHOT: WTOL’s Jerry Anderson at last night’s Democratic debate: “These four men are standing before you on this stage, sharing ideas, at times disagreeing. But standing before you to say that they would like a chance to lead our state. We again would welcome the Ohio Republican Party. We’ll set the same format up and the forum for them as well. If they would also debate the issues here in Toledo we’d love to have them.” (WTOL-TV, March, 2018)

CHASER: “DeWine, who won the endorsement of the Ohio Republican Party, has indicated he won’t debate Taylor before the primary, saying he’s more interested in debating in the fall.” (Dayton Daily News, March 7, 2018)

Columbus Dispatch Editorial Board

“Refusal to debate is a sign of arrogance and disrespect. Ohioans deserve the opposite.” (Columbus Dispatch, March 4, 2018)

Darrel Rowland, Columbus Dispatch

“He seems to be doing everything in his power to avoid a debate with his opponent, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor. And his campaign seems reluctant to even discuss some controversial issues.” (Columbus Dispatch, March 3, 2018)
