Ryan Calls Out Trump for “Sabotaging” Clean Energy Jobs
YOUNGSTOWN — Following Vice President Joe Biden’s rollout today of his plan to build a modern, sustainable infrastructure and an equitable clean energy future, the Ohio Democratic Party released a new video with Congressman Tim Ryan calling out Donald Trump for “sabotaging” clean energy jobs.

“As a candidate, Donald Trump promised to bring jobs back to Ohio. And as president, his economic policy and his incompetence have cratered the Ohio economy — starting long before this pandemic.
“General Motors’ Lordstown plant shut down on his watch. And even now, Trump is sabotaging the ideas and the investments that will lead to future job creation.
“Instead of helping Lordstown Motors and the electric vehicle companies, he has zeroed out the low-interest loan program that Elon Musk used to launch his company. He got rid of the tax credits to help consumers be able to purchase electric vehicles. These are incentives to help create the future — good, middle-class jobs for average people in the Mahoning Valley.
“And at every turn, Donald Trump has turned his back on what we need in our community. Ohioans deserve better. Working families can’t take it much longer, especially not another four more years. That’s why we’re sending Donald Trump home to Mar-a-Lago, and we’re putting Joe Biden in the White House. We need your help.”
When Trump offered his budget proposal earlier this year, it eliminated funding for the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) loan program — a program that could provide up to $200 million in funding for Lordstown Motors, which purchased the former General Motors plant in Lordstown and plans to build electric trucks.
Trump was also responsible for 86’ing an extension of the electric vehicle tax credit, a measure sought by GM and Tesla.
