Portman Says One Thing, Does The Other On Holding Saudi Arabia Accountable

COLUMBUS — U.S. Sen. Rob Portman made a great show this week about “holding the Saudi Arabia government accountable for its actions” — but on a resolution that would have actually held Saudi Arabia accountable and ended U.S. military assistance for that nation’s war in Yemen, Portman voted no.

“Rob Portman is the king of taking credit for legislation and making flowery statements, but when it came down to voting on a bill that could have actually penalized Saudi Arabia for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Portman voted with the majority of his party in giving the Saudis a pass,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper.
