Portman Capitulates to Trump

Portman: “I Intended to Support the Republican Incumbent,” “I Also Get A Lot Done … With Him”

COLUMBUS — After voting for Donald Trump’s massive tax scam that has blown up the deficit without boosting hiring, voting to let the Trump administration ease sanctions on Russian companies, voting against a Democratic bill to reopen the government and end the shutdown, voting for a Trumpcare plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act, U.S. Sen. Rob Portman has made his final capitulation to Trump and endorsed him.

“Rob Portman has once again revealed where he ultimately stands,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper. “He may talk a great game about standing up to Trump, but at the end of the day, he supports Trump, not just in his re-election, but in his agenda of wimping out on Russia, shutting down the government, giving the wealthy and big corporations a massive tax windfall and taking away health care from millions.

“Even as Trump and his inner circle are subject to at least 17 investigations, Portman is choosing to stand by his man nearly two years before the election. He won’t even wait for the Mueller report or to see if a more stable Republican decides to challenge Trump in the GOP primary — Rob Portman is a Trump guy, for once and for all.”
