Castro, Klobuchar, Ryan, Steyer to Speak in Columbus on Sunday, Oct. 13
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Democratic Party today announced Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez and 2020 contenders Julián Castro, Amy Klobuchar, Tim Ryan and Tom Steyer as confirmed speakers for their annual State Dinner at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Sunday, Oct. 13, just days before the next Democratic presidential primary debate in Ohio.
“It will be all eyes on Ohio as our 2020 presidential candidates come to the Buckeye State this October for our biggest event of the year and the fourth Democratic presidential primary debate,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper. “As is happening across the nation, Democrats are energized, formerly Republican suburbs are trending blue and voters across the state are waking up to Donald Trump’s many broken promises. Those are some of the numerous reasons that the president’s net approval numbers in Ohio have tumbled 19 percentage points since he took office.”
With media partners CNN and the New York Times, the Democratic National Committee will hold their fourth presidential primary debate at Otterbein University in Westerville on Oct. 15. Westerville’s shift toward Democratic candidates — it’s one of six districts that Ohio House Democrats flipped from red to blue in 2018 — illustrates how the suburbs are shaping up to be one of the major battlegrounds for 2020.
