Ohio Dems Statement on Second Anniversary of GOP Senate Health Care Vote

COLUMBUS — On the second anniversary of the U.S. Senate rejecting President Donald Trump’s health care bill, which would have spiked costs and jeopardized coverage for Ohioans with pre-existing conditions, Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper issued the following statement:

“Two years ago today, Donald Trump tweeted that the Senate had ‘let the American people down’ by refusing to pass his bill to spike costs and gut protections for Ohioans with pre-existing conditions. The truth is Trump, Rob Portman and the rest of the GOP have broken their promises and betrayed Americans by relentlessly pushing an agenda that would jeopardize coverage and sabotage our health insurance system. Now they’re trying to use the courts to do what they couldn’t do in Congress.

“There is only one party fighting for access to quality, affordable health care, and it’s the Democrats. Ohio deserves better than the endless broken promises of Donald Trump and his enabler Rob Portman — and voters will hold the GOP accountable at the ballot box.”
