Ohio Dems Statement on Kasich’s Decision to Sign Senate Bill 145

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Democratic Party released the following statement from Chairman David Pepper in response to Gov. John Kasich signing into law “one of the nation’s most restrictive abortion bans,” a bill that would criminalize the most common procedure for second-trimester abortions:

“It will be impossible to assess John Kasich’s legacy as governor without taking into account the fact that he has now signed into law more than 20 pieces of legislation attacking a woman’s ability to make her own personal decision about whether or not to become a parent. When he was running for president, Donald Trump said ‘there has to be some form of punishment’ for a woman who has an abortion. As much as he may wish to differentiate himself from the president, Kasich has over and over again put Trump’s vision for women into law.”
