Ohio Democratic Party Statement On Portman’s Plan To Vote To Take Health Care From Millions Of Americans

Portman Tweets Support for Trumpcare

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Democratic Party released the following statement from Chairman David Pepper in response to Sen. Rob Portman’s decision to “support legislation to move this process to a House-Senate conference” and vote in favor of the latest Trumpcare proposal moving through the Senate:

“When he votes in favor of Trumpcare, Rob Portman will be ignoring the thousands of Ohioans who have been calling, emailing, faxing and showing up at his offices, begging for him to stop playing politics with our health care. He’ll also be ignoring Ohio’s Republican governor. He will be voting in favor of a backroom deal that will disrupt one-sixth of the nation’s economy, put tens of thousands of Ohio jobs at risk, endanger one-fourth of Ohio’s hospitals, result in millions of Americans losing their health coverage and lead to skyrocketing premiums and the health insurance marketplace going into a death spiral.

“Portman promised to be an independent voice for Ohio, but he’s putting loyalty to Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell ahead of what’s best for Ohio families. Sad!”
