Ohio Democratic Party Statement on Nomination of R. Alexander Acosta

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Democratic Party released the following statement on today’s nomination of R. Alexander Acosta for Secretary of Labor:

“Alex Acosta played a notorious role in defending the odious, undemocratic and illegal process of ‘voter caging,’ which Ohio Republicans wanted to use to challenge thousands of lawfully registered voters during the 2004 election,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper. “With Jeff Sessions at the Justice Department and Acosta at the Labor Department, the president is assembling a cabinet full of people who support making it harder for Americans — especially African Americans — to vote.”
