Ohio Democratic Party Brings “Road to Recovery” Tour to Akron ahead of Biden Visit

Akron, OH — Today, the Ohio Democratic Party brought its “Road to Recovery” tour to Akron as Ohio is back on the road to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and building back better thanks to the leadership of President Biden and Ohio Democrats.The tour comes ahead of President Biden’s visit to the state Wednesday for a town hall discussion in Cincinnati.

At the event, Ohio House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes, Ohio Legislative Black Caucus Chair Tom West and CWA Local 4302 President Joe Snyder talked about economic policies that are working for working families under Democratic leadership.

“We know we have lots of work ahead of us, but Ohio families can breathe a little easier knowing that help is on the way, because investing in working families is a key part of President Biden’s plan to build back better in Ohio,” said Leader Sykes.

“As businesses open back up and workers are back on the job, we’re seeing the very real effects that Democratic priorities like the American Rescue Plan are having on working families in Ohio. And we’re not done yet. We’re looking ahead to the future and laser focused on investing in working families in Ohio, including the most significant investment in infrastructure in American history,” said Chair West.

“While we’re all glad life is looking a little bit more like it did before the pandemic, we’re still facing challenges as we work to take care of our families and make sure our kids have a better future than we did. That’s why I was so glad to hear about President Biden’s infrastructure plan, that’s not only going to create jobs, but also fix our roads and bridges, expand broadband internet access across the state and also provide real investments for needs like child care,” said President Snyder.

Thanks to President Biden and Ohio Democrats:

  • More than 5 million Ohioans are fully vaccinated and able to safely gather with family and friends again;

  • Ohio families are receiving a massive tax cut and targeted checks to help them with the costs of raising children thanks to the expanded Child Tax Credit;

  • And Ohio is set to receive major investments in roads, bridges and new jobs under an infrastructure plan negotiated by President Biden.
