Ohio Democratic Party Backs Voter Expansion Efforts, Opposes School Privatization

Executive Committee Approves 2020 Delegate Selection Plan

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Democratic Party executive committee approved its delegate selection plan for the 2020 Democratic National Convention Tuesday evening and passed resolutions supporting the protection of Ohio voters and opposing school privatization.

“Tonight, the Ohio Democratic Party resolved to reject the dangerous and harmful school privatization agenda that includes state takeovers, scam charter schools like ECOT, voucher schemes and a high-stakes test-and-punish philosophy,” said Chairman David Pepper. “Moreover, the party resolved to protect Ohio voters and to support efforts to expand access to the ballot, including moving forward with important reforms such as automatic voter registration before the 2020 election. Voting is a fundamental American freedom that must be fair and accessible for every qualified voter.

“With these resolutions, and approval of our delegate selection plan for the 2020 Democratic National Convention, the Ohio Democratic Party continues to be committed to putting people first with fair elections and working to restore the Ohio promise of quality education and a brighter future for hard-working Ohioans and their families.”
