LaRose Selects Voting Conspiracy Theorist Ken Blackwell To Lead Transition

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Democratic Party released the following statement from Chairman David Pepper in response to Frank LaRose’s selection of Ken Blackwell to lead his transition team:

“Ken Blackwell was universally acknowledged as a disaster when he was Ohio secretary of state — during the 2004 election, some Ohioans waited in line up to 10 hours, and perhaps more than 170,000 would-be voters left before casting a ballot. Blackwell was a member of Donald Trump’s sham voting commission that the president used to perpetuate his ‘Pants on Fire’ claims about voter fraud. Now he’s claiming with zero evidence that Democrats are ‘manufacturing voters’ in Florida, where Republicans are trying to shut down the counting of absentee ballots.

“Frank LaRose has an easy choice right now — he can stick with Ken Blackwell and show for once and for all that he’s nothing more than a partisan hack who will run Ohio’s elections to help boost Trump and the Republican Party. The alternative is he can ask Blackwell to step down from his transition team and actually try to fulfill his election promises to be bipartisan and fair.”
