In case you missed it… A Baldwin Wallace University poll released on Monday showed Zack Space with an 8-point, outside-the-margin lead over Keith Faber — 40.2 percent to 32 percent — in the closing week of the campaign.
The poll also showed that Space is winning independent voters by more than 15 percentage points and is up among men 39 percent to 34 percent.
Space’s lead has expanded significantly since a previous BW survey conducted in early October showed him leading Faber by just 1 percentage point.
In the weeks since, the Associated Press revealed that Faber had incurred 22 individual penalties for failing to pay nearly $5,500 in taxes on time, while Space began an aggressive statewide advertising campaign, highlighting his central message of cleaning up the Republican culture of corruption in Columbus.
Space has been endorsed by all four newspapers that have weighed in on the auditor’s race, while Faber is yet to receive any. In endorsing Space, each editorial board warned of Faber’s 17-year record as a sharp partisan who would be unable to independently keep watch over Ohioans’ tax dollars.
