Guess Who’s (Not) Coming To Dinner? Ohio Republican Party Edition

Intra-GOP Chaos Will Be on Full Display This Weekend with Pence and Kasich

COLUMBUS — Fresh off a public spat with the Kasich administration, Vice President Mike Pence is heading to the Buckeye State to keynote the Ohio Republican Party’s annual fundraiser, and while Gov. John Kasich will swing by a private reception before the event, he won’t be sticking around for tomorrow night’s dinner.

“The chaos of the Kasich and Trump wings of the Ohio Republican Party openly warring with one another will be on full display this weekend when Vice President Pence speaks in Columbus,” said Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper. “Just last week Pence called out Kasich in a speech to his fellow governors with inaccurate claims that Medicaid expansion has hurt people with disabilities — claims that a Kasich spokesperson Tweeted were ‘fake news’ and PolitiFact ruled as ‘false.’ That could make for some awkward conversations for Ohio Republicans, who are being forced to side with Kasich or kowtow to Pence and Trump.”
