Gibbs Says His Colleagues “Don’t Like Him”, Even Though He Votes Along Party Lines 97% of the Time
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Today, Congressman Bob Gibbs released his first television advertisement of the 2012 campaign cycle, touting his Washington experience and making the misleading claim that his colleagues dislike like him because of his voting record. However poor that voting record may be, Congressman Gibbs has in fact voted along Party lines with his Republican colleagues 97% of the time. In response, Ohio Democratic Party Chairman Chris Redfern released the following statement:
“It’s hard to believe Bob Gibbs Washington friends don’t like him, since he votes lock step with the majority of Congress along Republican Party lines 97% of the time.”
“Some of the most generous donors to Bob Gibbs’ campaign also happen to be Washington Republican leadership, which is why he continues to vote in lockstep with his Party, regardless of the issue or how it affects Ohioans. Despite this latest misleading campaign ad, Congressman Gibbs’s close D.C. friends continue to keep him flush with campaign cash so he doesn’t wander too far from the Republican flock.”
